About Ludwig Explosives
Who are we?
LUDWIG EXPLOSIVES, INC. originated in the 1940's. The company's founder Archie Ludwig, was a distributor of explosives and magazine keeper. In 1950, Archie's son, Marvin Ludwig, was employed with the company. Blasting in quarries was initiated. In 1962, LUDWIG EXPLOSIVES, INC. was incorporated. With four employees, Marvin started training his men. Many quarries were started under his expert knowledge. In the 1970's, the Federal Government required explosive users and distributors to have a Federal License. Ludwig Explosives, Inc. met with the FBI to help train them in the knowledge of explosives. We hold the first license issued in Illinois. In April, 1983, drills were purchased and became part of the business operation. Operating Engineers (Local 150) and Laborers (Local 681) were hired. In September, 1983, Marvin's son, Nowell Ludwig, joined the corporation learning the business from the ground up. Nowell has since taken over the position of the President of Ludwig Explosives, Inc. LUDWIG EXPLOSIVES, INC. is dedicated to servicing the Aggregate and Construction industries in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri & throughout the Midwest. We have a wide range of experience servicing quarries of all sizes as well as construction jobs.
